TAKE UP THE WHISTLE IN 2024/25 – THE FA REFEREE COURSE
We are pleased to confirm the first set of dates for the 2024/25 season’s FA Referee Courses.
After an excellent season of Match Official recruitment which saw 150 newly qualified Referees, we are looking to add to our existing cohort. So, if you’ve ever thought about taking up the whistle, book your place now.
Refereeing is a great way to keep fit, meet new people, stay involved in football, and earn a bit of additional income. Committed Officials can be rewarded with County Cup Final appointments and Refereeing can even become a viable career opportunity for those progressing up the promotion pathway.
The first course of the upcoming season will take place at The FDC, Norwich on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th July. We will also be delivering a course at Fakenham in July on Friday 19th and Sunday 21st July.
The FDC will also host courses in August, along with Great Yarmouth Town FC hosting a course for the East of the County.
This summer we will also be delivering a course aimed specifically for females and will serve to allow women and girls to undertake the course and build relationships with each other.
Referee Development Officer Harvey Newstead said: “Last season's courses were a great success with lots of referees trained. Many of those referees have completed their five matches and are now regularly officiating in Norfolk Football.
“I am looking forward to welcoming and supporting our next set of match officials through 2024/25 and beyond.”
Bursaries are available through the Norfolk Combined Youth Football League. For the Great Yarmouth course we have some funding which has been kindly donated to us by the Great Yarmouth & District Saturday League. For Norfolk Officials, who live in Great Yarmouth and the surrounding area, who book onto the course and complete their 5 matches by the end of January 2025, they will receive £35 of the course fee back.

The FDC - Tuesday 23rd July 9am-2pm & Wednesday 24th July 9am-2pm
Great Yarmouth Town Football Club - Friday 16th August, 6pm – 9pm and Sunday 18th August, 9am - 3pm

The FDC - Wednesday 21st August 9am - 6:30pm
The FDC - Friday 23rd August 6pm-9pm & Sunday 25th August 9am-3pm
