The One Broker Veterans Cup Final 2024
The One Broker Veterans’ Cup Final 2024
The One Broker Veterans’ Cup Final is seventh in this season’s Norfolk County Cup programme. The match will be contested between Loddon United and AFC Lynn on Friday, April 26 with a 7:30pm kick off. Tickets can be purchased through the link below.
Loddon United currently compete in the Premier North Division of the Norfolk & Suffolk Veterans’ League. Sitting undefeated at the top of the table on nineteen points, following six wins and one draw, they have secured the title with one match left to play. Their cup campaign commenced with an impressive 7-0 win away against Belton, before receiving a home walkover into the next round. Another substantial 7-0 away win, this time against The Cottage, saw them through to the Quarter Finals where they then knocked out last season’s One Broker Veterans’ Cup Champions Cringleford 1-0. It was then a 2-1 win away against Windmill that secured them a place in this year’s final.
When speaking about what it means to reach the final, Loddon United Manager, Stephen Codling said: “It’s a massive achievement for the club, to be honest we were not expecting to get this far.
“All the lads are absolutely buzzing. Many of them have had long careers in Men’s football and finals don’t come around very often so it means a lot. The community seems to have brought into it as well, so we are hoping for some big support.”
AFC Lynn play in League One (W) of the One Broker Veterans’ League, following promotion at the end of last season after winning all ten of their fixtures. Continuing their unbeaten form, the team currently sit second in the table on twenty-one points with three games in hand, having won all of their games played so far. After starting their cup run with a bye, AFC Lynn then beat Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers at home 6-3. A 3-0 victory away against Wensum Albion secured their place in the Quarter Final, before beating Fakenham Town three goals to two. The Semi Final saw them come out on top at home against last year’s runners up Sprowston, entering the final 2-1.
When asked about their opponents in the final, AFC Lynn Managers, Ben Ellis and Billy Simper said: “They appear to be having a great season and have already beaten the holders Cringleford on the way to the final. Their league form is also impressive and currently top of their league. They have had some impressive performances this year and we will have to be at our best to give them a game.”
