'Where is Christmas?' by Sprowston FC Girls under 13s
What do you get when you mix a songwriter with a girls’ football team, a charity and a recording studio and sprinkle everything with a bit of Christmas...?
You might have the recipe for the perfect Christmas number one!
The Sprowston FC Girls under 13s have recorded a charity song to aid Women in Sport and Sprowston FC in collaboration with the Norwich songwriter John Allerhand.
The catchy and rocky tune ‘Where is Christmas?’ by Mr A and the Football Angels was recorded at Plug Studios in Norwich and aims to raise awareness of the women's game.
The team’s message is clear, goalkeeper Tegan said: "I think it's important that we encourage more women to play football and other sports because most sports are known as men's sports, and most women are a bit put off by that. But it's not just for men, sport is for everybody! It doesn't matter if you're a woman, man or any gender as long as you take part and do what you like."
John Allerhand wanted to record a song to say thank you to the club for all they have done for his stepdaughter Liliana. Liliana moved to England from her native Germany in 2018 and found settling into her new home far easier after joining the Sprowston team and making new friends. This made Mr A realise he had discovered his choir - and a cause to support.
"They welcomed my stepdaughter with open arms, and through playing for the club, Liliana learned to speak English, made new friends and gained confidence. It's been a tough couple of years for everybody, and the club is voluntary, so I wanted to give something back to support them.”
Mr A said the recording of the song with the girls was just terrific fun. The receptionist at the studio told him the girls created more chaos than any of the heavy metal bands that recorded there before but delivered an excellent performance and were a great laugh.
"Everyone has had two years of real problems. We're looking for some togetherness, and the football team is our way out. The football, the friendship and the song have brought us all together."
The festive single is available on Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music and there is a video on YouTube. All the info and links can be found on https://mr-a-music.com/ and donations are very welcome!
