Barnes Print Central & South Norfolk League TEAM numbers on the rise
At the Annual General Meeting held last night, the League admitted ten new teams to membership of the League for the coming season.
This represents the largest number of teams to apply to join the League in its recent history and will provide the most teams competing in the League for six years.
The new teams include three from Suffolk and a number of clubs with teams in Sunday or Youth football. The teams joining the League are AG Athletic, Costessey Sports Res., Diligent FC, FC Viking, Firside Athletic, Hornets, Lakenheath Casuals, Redgrave Rangers Res., Weasenham Wanderers and West Row.
League Secretary John Tuner said: “We are really encouraged by this change to the trend of the past few seasons. This is a tremendous boost for the League and extremely good news for grassroots football in the County and more widely. It gives us real confidence for the new season and we look forward to a competitive season with our considerably increased numbers.”
Chief Executive of Norfolk FA, Gavin Lemmon said: “It’s extremely pleasing to hear that Saturday football is on the rise in Norfolk. This is great news for the Central and South Norfolk League and early indications suggest growth in other Saturday leagues too.
"Our #NorfolkFootball For All Strategy aims to increase participation in all formats of football by 2021 and this type of news demonstrates a positive trend towards that aspiration.”
