Thetford Town Vs Mattishall Match Preview

Thetford Town Vs Mattishall is the second Norfolk Senior Cup Semi-Final
The FDC will play host for Thetford Town and Mattishall on Tuesday 5 March in the Norfolk Senior Cup Semi-Finals.

The FDC will play host to the second Norfolk Senior Cup Semi-Final between Thetford Town and Mattishall to see who will play Dereham Town at Carrow Road on Tuesday 30th April. Thetford Town play in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division whilst their opponents Mattishall are the lowest ranked team left in the competition as they play in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.

Thetford Town haven't enjoyed any recent success in this competition with their last triumph coming all the way back in 1991 as they beat St Andrews 4-3. Their last final came back in 2012 as they lost out to Gorleston 2-0. The club have reached the final four times with success in two. They will see this as a great opportunity against lower league opposition to reach their fifth Norfolk Senior Cup Final. Thetford Town are having a mixed season as they are currently mid table but since the turn of the year have started to pick up a few wins to move up the table. They beat a strong Wymondham Town team in the Quarter Final in a repeat of last year’s Quarter Final 5-0 to set up tonight’s tie.

Mattishall are previous winners in this competition with their solitary victory coming back in 2010 as they beat Norwich United on penalties. Mattishall are also experiencing a mixed season as they sit 9th in the Anglian Combination Premier Division but do have five games in hand on the teams above them due to their cup exploits. The club have beaten higher league opposition in every round as they have beaten Anglian Combination Premier Division high flyers Long Stratton, Thurlow Nunn First Division North side Norwich CBS and Norfolk Senior Cup holders Norwich United.

Let's hope for another exciting semi-final!
