The Sunday Senior Cup Final Match Preview

This season’s Sunday Senior Cup Final will be competed between El Sol and Riverside Rovers on Sunday 28 April 2019 (11:00am KO). Riverside Rovers compete in the Norwich & District Sunday League Premier Division whereas El Sol compete in the Great Yarmouth Sunday League.

Last year the Final was held at Carrow Road and was a tight battle between Windmill and Acle Rangers. Having two teams that play lots of attacking football will guarantee a thrilling Final.

El Sol have done well in the League this season as they finished second only two point behind the Winners, Windmill. However, they got their revenge as they knocked the defending champions out of the Sunday Senior Cup in the Quarter-Finals. To reach the Quarter-Finals they beat Phoenix and Vale Longo 3-2 and 6-0 respectively. They faced Woolpack, the winners of The Norwich & Sunday District League Division 1, in the Semi-Finals and scored the only goal of the game to send them into the Final at Carrow Road.

In the League, Riverside Rovers are on course to become Champions as they are yet to drop points and have played fewer games than the teams above them. They started their Cup run at home to Windmill Wanderers who they beat 7-1 meaning they set up a Second Round match away to Marlborough. They beat Marlborough 4-1 and then in the Third Round they beat England’s Hope away by scoring the only goal of the game. In the Semi-Finals they required extra-time and penalties to get past last year’s Runners Up, Acle Rangers. Riverside have scored 16 goals on their Cup run and only conceded 5.
