Norfolk U18's in National Final
Norfolk
FA’s Under-18 Representative Squad will take on Manchester in the FA County
Youth Cup Final on Saturday 13 April (KO 2pm).
Norfolk will meet Manchester U18’s in the
final of the National competition which will take place at The Crown Oil
Arena, home of Rochdale AFC. The U18’s booked their place in the FA County
Youth Cup Final with a 3-1 victory at the expense of Cheshire U18’s last month.
After receiving a bye in the first round,
Norfolk’s cup run began with a 3-4 away victory over Cornwall after needing
Extra-Time. In the third round Norfolk played their only home game of the cup
run beating The Isle of Man 3-1. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals Norfolk
had to travel to Sussex and Cheshire respectively. Hard fought victories on the
road saw Norfolk rewarded with a place in The FA County Youth Cup for the
second year in a row.
Norfolk FA have organised a supporter’s coach
to The FA County Youth Cup Final on Saturday 13 April at the Crown Oil Arena,
Rochdale AFC. The coach will depart from the FDC at Bowthorpe at 6.30am sharp
on Saturday 13 April.
Pre, during and post-match coverage can also
be found on the Norfolk FA Twitter feed throughout the day.
Gavin Lemmon, Representative Squad Manager
said: "To achieve getting to
successive FA County Youth Cup Finals is quite remarkable and is something this
group of players should take great credit for achieving as it was never going
to be easy trying to follow in the footsteps of the successes of last year.
“We
have shown a variety of different qualities on our run so far and I think the
boys can draw strength from the fact that they have overcome all the challenges
that have been put in our way in each of the fixtures leading to this year’s
final.
“Manchester
obviously presents us with another significant challenge and one I will be
encouraging our lads to fully embrace and continue to utilise the strengths we
possess as a group.
“They’ll be absolutely no pressure on our lads, I want us to enjoy what comes with getting to a National Final and take great credit in the fact that over the past 2 seasons we have put Norfolk Youth Football well and truly on the map”
