Cringleford defend the Norfolk Veterans Cup
Hat-trick hero
Huckerby helps Cringleford lift this year’s Norfolk Veterans Cup
Full Time – Horsford
1-4 Cringleford
Cringleford opened the scoring when Darren Huckerby crossed
the ball from about 35 yards out and somehow the ball went past everyone. The
Cringleford forwards tried desperately to get on the end of the cross but
failed, however this put the keeper off and the ball bobbled into the bottom
corner of the net.
Half Time – Horsford 0-1
Cringleford
Horsford equalised after 8 minutes had been played in the
second half. A corner was whipped into the box from the right and Horsford
captain, Steve Middleton, headed the ball over the struggling Richard Anderson
in the Cringleford net.
Cringleford retook the lead when Huckerby beat his man on
the left and crossed the ball to the feet of Matt Metcalf in the box. Metcalf
made no mistake when he was required to blast the ball home from less than 6
yards out.
Huckerby really showed that form is temporary and class is
permanent at the end of the second half. He whipped two free kicks into the
back of the net leaving the goalkeeper no chance in the Horsford goal. These
late two goals ensured that Cringleford defended the Norfolk Veterans Cup.
