Schools Cup Quarter Final Review
Many of the quarter finals of the Norfolk Schools Cups, sponsored by Phoenix Sporting Goods, have been played.
The Boys U12 Schools Cup Quarter Finals saw over 20 goals
with Aylsham the top scorers in the round scoring 8 with no reply against
Thorpe St Andrew. Attleborough were in seventh heaven as they beat Broadland.
Wymondham College were comfortable winners at home to Langley whilst North
Walsham were involved in a 9 goal thriller against Framingham Earl as North
Walsham won 6-3.
Moving onto the Boys U13 Quarter Finals the games were
slightly closer but still high scoring as Thorpe edged Langley by 6 goals to 4.
Lynn Grove also won by scoring 6 but Attleborough only managed 3 in reply.
Staying on the east coast Cliff Park reached the semi-finals by putting 4 past
Notre Dame as they won 4-1. Sprowston completed the semi-final line up by
beating KES at home 6-2.
The U14 Boys Quarter finals produced 21 goals with 2 teams
scoring 5. Ormiston Victory travelled to Hethersett and won 5-0 with Thorpe
coming away from Flegg scoring 5 as they won 5-2. Lynn Grove secured a home win
against Wymondham High by winning 4-1 with Wymondham College securing their
place by beating CNS 3-1.
There were goals galore in the U15 Boys Quarter Finals with
Thorpe St Andrew scoring 7 against Reepham who managed just the 2. Wymondham
High won at home by 6 goals to 3 against Flegg. Wymondham College set up an all
Wymondham tie as they edged out Hethersett by 2 goals to 1. The final game came
from Taverham who beat Smithdon 4-2.
Just 2 ties have been played so far in the U16 Boys Quarter
finals as Thorpe secured the biggest win by beating Framingham Earl 5-1. KES
joined Thorpe in the semi-finals by beating Taverham 3-1. The 2 ties to be
played are Springwood v Lynn Grove and Langley v Wymondham High.
Open Academy put 11 past University Technical College
without reply to reach the semi-finals. Taverham beat Reepham 6-3 with Langley
sneaking past KES by 4 goals to 3. The last game was awarded to CNS as Diss
unfortunately had to withdraw from the competition.
The U13 Girls Quarter Finals saw over 20 goals scored with 2
teams scoring 6. Jane Austen scored 6 against North Walsham who only managed 4
in reply with Broadland winning comfortably at home to Cromer as they won 6-1.
Sprowston made the short trip to Thorpe St Andrew and came away with an
excellent 3-2 win. Notre Dame completed the semi-final line up by putting 5
past Ormiston Victory.
Thorpe St Andrew scored a staggering 14 past Jane Austen as
they reached the semi-finals of the U14 Girls Schools Cup. Hellesdon were on
the right side of a 10 goal thriller against KES by winning 6-4. Broadland won
at home 3-0 as they beat Taverham with Notre Dame winning the last game against
Flegg by 3 goals to 1.
Taverham came away from Cliff Park as they reached the
semi-finals of the U16 Girls Schools Cup as they won 3-2. Broadland managed to
win again in the quarter finals as all 3 girls teams reached the semi-finals.
The U16s beat Aylsham by 2 goals to nil. Sprowston unfortunately had to
withdraw from the competition as Thorpe St Andrew progressed to the semi-final.
Notre Dame and North Walsham is still to be played.
