Five star performance as Firside cruise to victory
Firside got off to the perfect start, with centre-back Josh Ford scoring a superb free-kick from just inside the opposing half within 7 minutes.
Firside pushed forward once again after the restart and won another free-kick 2 minutes later, this time in a much more threatening area. Ford confidently stepped up and scored again, this time beating goalkeeper Lewis Herbert at his bottom right.
Reffley looked for an instant reply in order to reduce the deficit, with Billy Wood pushing the ball past the defender but his effort was well saved by Jake Harvey.
Firside began to shift the ball quicker in the hope of creating more chances and adding to their lead, and they did exactly that with 5 minutes remaining in the first half. Owen Murphy picked the ball up drove into a gap in the Reffley defence before drilling his shot across the goalkeeper and into the far corner, giving Firside a 3-0 lead at half time.

It was an even start to the second half, with both sides looking take control of the game. An eye of the needle pass from playmaker Owen Murphy found Henry Metcalf, who squared his ball across the face of goal to Rhys Manley who made no mistake from 12 yards out.
That goal took all the wind out of Reffley’s sails, and Firside were hungry for more. Murphy found some space around 25 yards from goal and beat his man before unleashing a powerful shot that was excellently tipped onto the post by Herbert in the Reffley goal.
The red and whites stayed began to play some excellent passing football to further frustrate Reffley, and the win was capped off late in stoppage time. Murphy picked the ball up outside the area, dropping his shoulder onto his favoured right foot, withhis shot inadvertently finding Aedan Oliver who calmly picked his spot as Firside cruised to victory!
