Youth County Cup double header this Sunday

Four teams will be competing at the FDC this Sunday in the Stuart Dracup & John Savage Cup Finals at the FDC.

STUART DRACUP CUP: St Andrews U14’s v Attleborough Town U14’s – Sunday 26 March 2017 10.30am KO

St Andrews have had a good season so far in the Norfolk Combined Youth Football League, and have not a conceded goal in the Stuart Dracup Cup thus far, securing some big wins along the way.

Attleborough Town are also playing well this season, and are another team that have had some convincing wins. This will be both St Andrews and Attleborough’s first Stuart Dracup Cup Final, meaning that both teams will be looking to make history.

St Andrews assistant coach Chris Durdin is looking at the bigger picture ahead of the final.

“It’s a terrific achievement to reach a Cup Final, and we would absolutely love to win, but whatever happens we will still celebrate the players’ achievements.”

Attleborough joint manager Paul Allen discussed the high importance of the final for Town:

“Obviously the final is very important to us, as a County Cup is a huge occasion at any stage of your career – let alone reaching a final at this age group.”

JOHN SAVAGE CUP: Firside Athletic U16’s v Reffley Youth U16’s – Sunday 26 March 2017 2pm KO

Firside Athletic U16’s are a team that have already experienced this occasion before in the Stuart Dracup final of 2015 where they faced today’s opponents Reffley Youth, losing 2-0. Firside are having another good season as they regularly finish at the top of the table having won the league three seasons running.

Manager Gary Greenwood is happy with his team’s performance so far this season:

“Personally I think we’ve had a great season. It’s about improving both individually and as a squad year on year and I think we have done that. This season in particular has been a pleasure, seeing the lads listen to us and putting all the advice we have given them into practice.”

Reffley Youth U16’s are also having another good season as they have only lost once and still have a good chance of completing their treble of League, League Cup & County Cup. The U16’s have the opportunity to finish youth football on a high with the chance of winning a second treble in three years to cap off a magnificent season.

Kevin Wingfield, manager of Reffley Youth is confident that his side can lift the cup on Sunday:

“It’s been a real highlight to reach another County Cup Final again, as very few have ever reached one let alone two! It’s brought the whole club together which is fantastic and it’s a great opportunity for the boys to cap off their last season together in style.”

Tickets for the both Youth Cup Final will be priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. To find out more information about our County Cups visit NorfolkFA.com/Cups
