Norfolk Women's Cup Preview
The South Norfolk side will be looking to build upon their 3rd place finish in Division One of the Eastern Region Women’s Football League and will be full of confidence following their 4-2 Semi Final win over Acle United Ladies to reach their first ever Norfolk Women’s Cup Final.
Wymondham Town manager Alex Guy spoke highly of his team ahead of Friday’s Final:
“This is the first time that we have featured in a County Cup Final having been knocked out by Thorpe last season in an earlier round, and also by Acle United the year before that in the Semi Final. To reach an occasion such as this is a fantastic moment for the Club.”
Thorpe United currently sit top of the Norfolk Women’s & Girls Football League Division One meaning that they are on course for League and Cup double. This is United’s fifth Norfolk Women’s Cup Final, and could become the second team ever to win back to back Finals since Norwich City Ladies in 2014.
Manager of Thorpe United, Martin Francis, will be hoping that his side can secure a result:
“We’re obviously looking to win it. It’s a massive achievement to reach a Final and I’m looking forward to the whole experience, however it is a nerve wrenching occasion too! We’re a confident team heading into a tough game so let’s see what happens!”
